BD: How did you get started designing your own line?
KD: I have always loved fashion and wanted to incorporate design/style into my work since I can remember. I dabbled in styling and was always in a never ending search for simple yet essential closet shapes for myself or clients. That’s how TOGGERY by KD came about…the urge and need to create an essential clothing brand that was not only fashionable and functional but also had some thought behind how and what the garments were made of. We only use organic, sustainable, or recycled fabrics in every collection.
BD: What are your favorite trends for this Spring Season?
KD: I love bold unexpected neons mixed with easy neutrals, off the shoulder tops and tunics paired with boyfriend shorts/jeans, cut out booties and wedges.
BD: Who was your fashion icon growing up?
KD: Kate Moss, she hands down has the sickest and most undone yet perfect cool style.
BD: Who is your favorite fashion designer today?
KD: I adore DVF; she is such a strong role model. My dream is to have a career and create a lifestyle brand on the same scale as DVF, Diane inspires me. I hope to meet her some day and thank her for making me explore the thought of making fashion my life and pursuing my dreams of becoming a designer.
BD: What inspires you?
KD: I’m so inspired by the woman I encounter everyday in my work and social life (being a part of the fashion industry in NYC allows me the privilege to be surrounded by people from all walks of life with the most AMAZING personal style), Fashion to me is fun and over the top but there also has to be this touch of function to clothing, so I’m very inspired by nature and wildlife because there is this balance of beauty and function surrounding us every day outside
BD: What is your motto to live by?
KD: Work Hard/Play Hard, be loving and kind to the people around you, speak what is on your mind, be passionate life.
BD: What would you not be able to live without?
KD: Gold Jewelry and Kiehl’s avocado eye cream…I wear both religiously every day!
